Who Are You Going to Believe?

Who Are You Going to Believe?

If you could do anything you wanted to do, and money was not a problem, what would you choose to do?
I have asked that question to more people than I can count. Only on two occasions did the person I asked not have an idea about their “Big Dream.”

Your Big Dream is likely the very purpose for which God created you and brought you into this world. Interestingly, by the time we become early adults, that dream has been beaten out of most of us.

We all have heard the reasons people have given us for why we will never achieve our dream. The sad reality is that when we hear it enough times, we begin to believe what others say of us rather than to consider what God created us to be.

Think of it. If God created you with a specific purpose in mind, and if He is the one who placed that dream in your heart, could it be that all the naysayers are wrong? Who are you going to believe – those who say you can’t, or the One who created you for such a time as this?

It amazes me how people without any idea about your aptitude, your skills, your willingness to learn or your driving ambition to achieve your big dream are so quick to tell you that your dream is unrealistic or that you need to take your head out of the clouds.

I know this because I heard it all my life. I had to decide who I was going to listen to. I remember reading 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJ) But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." I decided right then that I wanted to fulfill the things which God prepared for me. I decided to trust the truth of God’s word rather than the opinions of others. For me, life has been a greater adventure than I could ever have dreamed.

So the big question for you to consider is this: What is your big dream? What do you believe God created you to uniquely do for Him while you are on this earth?

Over the last several months, we have interviewed various people in the city and asked them to share how they discovered God’s purpose for them and the up and downs of trying to live it out.

I think you will be inspired by their stories. If you have a story you would like to share about how you discovered your purpose and how you are living it out, please let us know. We may want to interview you on one of our podcasts.
