At 4Tucson, and at several churches across the city, people are encouraged every January to identify a word to guide you throughout the year. It is a word that God puts on your heart that he wants to work on with YOU. Through this work in your heart, God will transform you into Christ’s likeness, day by day.
"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." 2 Cor 3:17-18
Perhaps you picked a word or a concept at the beginning of the year to focus your walk with God this year. If not, ask yourself: What is God wanting to teach you this year? How are you being transformed?
Today is the first of June. Half of another year is almost gone. Receive this as a friendly encouragement from your brother in Christ—to pause, reflect and pray before the rest of the year has passed. Where are you spending time? In God’s Word? In fellowship with other believers? Loving your family and your neighbor? Serving others? Essentially, are you storing up treasures here on earth or in heaven? (Matthew 6:19-21).
It is not too late to make this year meaningful. To finish strong.
Consider these questions as you look at the rest of 2017: Why were you left on this earth after you came to know Christ? What is His purpose for your life? We know part of this purpose is to love others and to serve others. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10. How are you serving in your neighborhood? How are you investing yourself in your congregation? In your community?
