Dear Partners and Friends,
It is clear from the Bible that God intends for Christians to care about people and about the cities in which they find themselves. For example, in Jeremiah 29:7 it states, "Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (NIV) We believe that by following God’s principles, Christians can implement biblical solutions that bring prosperity to our city.
While 4Tucson specifically works on addressing city problems, our goal and heart as Christians is always to see more people come to know Jesus as Savior. We recognize and encourage the role of the local congregation in this evangelism strategy. We currently have 38 partner churches and work with numerous other churches across the city as well. These churches help people’s lives be transformed through the power of Jesus; they are places of community, worship and discipleship. (Not sure who our partner churches are? Click here to see a list of organizational partners). These are congregations that believe in the importance of the Christian community working together in service to our city. If your church is not on the list, encourage them to get involved!
The Bible also clearly shows us how service is one of the ways in which people come to know Jesus. "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16 (NKJV) Thus, at 4Tucson we are bringing the city together in service, helping to address city problems as Christians are called to do. Through service to our neighbors, others start to ask questions such as: 'Why do these Christians care so much about me? Why are they willing to give of their time in my daughter’s school? How come the Christians that I know are making such a difference?'
Thus, our job is to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…" 1 Peter 3:15 (NIV) So come be a partner with us at 4Tucson; we will help our city be transformed together, and you will have opportunities to share about the hope you have in Jesus.
