Prayer Points, Scriptures and Newsletters
Some business before getting into our next Spiritual Discipline. Last week I shared several prayer points. I want to let you know that all prayer points or lists of scriptures that I have shared in many of the newsletters can be found on the 4Tucson website. I’ve created these to not only be tools or refreshers for us but to also share with others. They are simple by design. It is my prayer each document might be a starting point for others to refer back to the Bible, thereby increasing their understanding and trust in God’s word.
For some, the 4Tucson website can be a bit tricky to navigate. Here is a link if you want to save it to your “favorites”: 4Tucson Prayer Domain Prayer Points and Scriptures - 4Tucson. This link will take you directly to the prayer resource page for all domains. Click on a particular domain of interest to view prayer points and scriptures related to that domain. On occasion, you will see overlap of scriptures because the truth is a verse like “Love your neighbor as yourself” can be applied to all domains.
4Tucson is also storing the prayer newsletters. The motivation behind all this is to create a prayer resource center where people can come to get ideas; where people will feel empowered to share with others; where people will begin to “think outside the box” and begin praying for things other than what they are used to praying for. This falls in line with what the Prayer Domain is all about: to inspire and motivate people to know God intimately and create a culture of prayer so that the will of God is done in Tucson as it is in Heaven. So, please feel free to share as the Lord directs. There is also an easy to use 🙂 green button link below that will take you to the Prayer webpage.
Something else I want to tell you about is that 4Tucson has the honor of being one of four sponsors of the NonProfit Prayer Summit on May 5th. This will be a wonderful opportunity for those involved in the nonprofits of our city to come together to meet, fellowship, and pray with one another. If you know of anyone who might be blessed by this, please let them know about this event. There is a link below. What is really awesome is that because of the sponsors, the event’s costs are covered, and the proceeds will be used to support a local nonprofit! How awesome is that? What an answer to prayer – to be able to bless another ministry during a time of collective ministry!
Let’s now look at our next spiritual discipline – Fasting. Ezra 8:23 - So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty. For the most part, the average Christian when hearing about fasting thinks along the lines of “giving up food”. The purpose of fasting is voluntarily abstaining from food for spiritual purposes. My version – to give up something near and dear to our hearts for the sole intent of drawing closer to God. What is nearer or dearer to our hearts than food! I think we are all guilty in some measure of loving and enjoying food. There is nothing wrong with that. However, fasting is more than just about giving up food for a period of time. Not wanting to minimize this subject, next week’s newsletter (with the Lord’s leadership) will solely be focused on Fasting. I hope you will join me!
Blessings & Shalom,
