Getting out of Poverty: Living from Identity in the Lord
When we start working with those living in poverty we ask "what do you have?" not, "what do you need"?
What are the gifts, talents, and skills you have and are you willing to share them with your neighbor? The biblical principle is that each and every one of us is made in the image of God.
God is a creative being thus we have creative abilities and with His help we can begin to develop our own solutions to help solve our own problems.
This attitude begins to change the hearts and minds of those struggling with poverty and encourages them to look at the root causes and not wait for outsiders to provide resources. They begin to have hope as they realize they are important to God.
