J. Michael retired in 2010 from Sears Home Services. He promised that if God made it possible to retire early (which he did), that he would dedicate his life to working in God’s kingdom. The only problem was he didn’t know what God’s intentions were. He started by praying Isaiah’s prayer, “Here am I send me.”
Since retirement, J. Michael has worked with the Community Food Bank, Evercare Hospice, Pantano Christian Church (as a group leader, marriage and peer counselor) and he has spent three summers in Beijing teaching middle school and high school conversational English and public speaking at The People’s University of Beijing.
As the current Director of Community Outreach at Pantano Christian Church, J. Michael helps develop partnership programs with various non-profit organizations, thus providing Pantano’s All-In Members with a way to immediately connect with the community’s needs.
J. Michael and his wife, Jill, are both from Oklahoma. Jill is a loan officer with Nova Home Financial. He and his wife can be seen attending many University of Arizona sports events including soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics and football. He is a confessed techno-geek and stays in shape cycling and taking spin classes.
He has a BA in Music Education from Cameron University and a Masters of Church Music from Golden Gate Seminary. He is also an ordained Minister of the Gospel.
J. Michael hopes to use his platform as Social Services Domain Director with 4Tucson to network, coordinate, and collaborate between Tucson’s many non-profit ministries in their efforts to reach those in need.
“My vision is that the 4Tucson Social Services Domain will serve as a catalyst to unify, coordinate and improve efforts in the Kingdom of God to minister to the afflicted, the brokenhearted, the captives and all those needing redemption from lives diminished by sin.”
