“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – II Chronicles 7:14
What if Tucson was “the city that prays”?
That’s the hope of George Munguia, Director of the Prayer Domain, and it’s the goal of the quarterly Citywide Prayer Gathering. The first prayer gathering will take place on Saturday, March 23rd, at the Reid Park Band Shell, from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The goal is for 1,000 people to pray for the transformation of our city.
Dynamic prayer will be directed by group leaders, who will lead in prayer over seven areas: Family, Education, Government, Media & Arts, Business, Church and Military. Anyone who wants to pray for the transformation of Tucson is welcome to pray for any of the areas that they want to bless.
“I want to see II Chronicles 7:14 become a reality in our city. I want to see a prayer revolution ignite within our city,” said George. He and his team plan to do this by cultivating a high value for prayer among Tucsonans, bringing Christians together in prayer and getting them plugged in to prayer opportunities in the city.
Corporate and individual prayers and prayer testimonies will be complimented with expressions of prayer through dance and a spoken word artist. Ministries who incorporate prayer in their services will also table at the event. (To table your ministry, contact George Munguia at George@4tucson.com.)
Another goal of the quarterly Citywide Prayer Gatherings is to dramatically increase attendance at the National Day of Prayer on May 2nd, 2019. Developing a culture of prayer in our city includes partnering with the National Day of Prayer by increasing attendance and building anticipation for this national event.
It’s not a movement, it’s a revolution to work prayer into the fabric of Tucson’s culture. (If you’d like to volunteer for this event, follow this link.) Prayer for our city changes hearts. The call to pray into and over the domains of our city that need God’s blessing is about to become a quarterly event that you can be a part of! You can share this event with friends, volunteer or come to pray at the first Citywide Prayer Gathering. For Tucson to be a city that prays, it needs to start here.
