Definition: Quality of Life is the outcome of a person or groups' level of satisfaction with the environment in which they live; specifically the spiritual, social, cultural, intellectual, economic, and built and natural conditions.
Challenges/Issues: Quality of life must differentiate between the subjective and objective quality of life. Subjective quality of life is about feeling good about Tucson and being satisfied with things in general and is immeasurable. Objective quality of life may be measured by several factors including: income, quality and availability of employment, class disparity, poverty rate, quality and affordability of housing, hours of work required to purchase necessities, gross domestic product (GDP), inflation rate, number of paid vacation days per year, affordable access to quality health care, quality and availability of education, life expectancy, incidence of disease, cost of goods and services, infrastructure, economic and political stability, political and religious freedom, environmental quality, climate and safety.
