Each week, we pray for a local Christian church. This week, we are praying for Amphitheater Bible Church.

Church of the Week 1

What is something unique or descriptive about your church?
Having been constituted in 1944, we are one of the oldest churches in Tucson. In 1944 our location was considered "out in the country" and as Tucson has grown, we are now an inner city church. But in 75+ years our focus has never changed from presenting the good news that Jesus Saves! We have been in the same location for over 75 years and we are a "church family" in every sense of that term. We are called "The friendliest church in Tucson", and a warm and loving welcome waits for anyone who visits.

What is happening within the church that you are excited about?
After a long slow-down due to the COVID crisis, our people are starting to return to regular services. We are still conscious of the potential harm this virus can cause, so we try to practice proven safety measures. Even though our regular members and guests are beginning to return, we still have plenty of room for folks who may be seeking a loving, Christ-centered, family church home. After the enemy of all that is good and holy nearly succeeded in bringing the Church to her knees, it is exciting to see our Lord bringing his people back together in worship.

What are one or two prayer needs within the church?
We are praying for a hedge of protection around all those who gather for worship; that within God's House there would be peace and safety. Also, we are praying God would send us a volunteer organist and many more choir members.

Anything else you’d like to share?
We cling to Romans 8:28 and are eager to see what good things God will bring put of this COVID pandemic.
