Church of the Week

Each week, we pray for a local Christian church. This week, we are praying for The Journey Church.

What is something unique or descriptive about your church?
Jim Roden: We are a disciple making church that seeks to think like, love like, and live like Jesus. We are unique in our externally focused mission to our city as well as our inclusive model of disability ministry.
Rick Simpson: We are especially blessed to have a vibrant ministry with special needs adults. It is called Friends For Life. Encourage your friendsto check it out!

What is happening within the church that you are excited about?
Jim Roden: Pastor Jim is approximately 1/2 through his sabbatical/study leave of absence. He is diligently working on completing his doctorate degree through Biola University. The staff is doing a tremendous job of leading and innovating during his leave of absence! We are also in the process of a national search for a senior associate pastor as we prepare Journey Church for the next decade of post-COVID ministry.
Rick Simpson: We are excited about our Family Worship Services that take place every Sunday at 10:30.

What are one or two prayer needs within the church?
1.The health and vitality of the staff, ministries, and congregants during this COVID season and pastor Jim’s sabbatical/study leave of absence.
2.A fantastic hire for the senior associate pastor position. As with many churches these days, keeping up our connections with one another is a challenge. We are hosting our Friends for Life Night to shine in February. Prayer needed for our leaders of the event to be creative in making this really special in light of health and safety due to the virus.

Anything else you’d like to share?
Rick Simpson: Our Lead pastor is on a study sabbatical through the month of January. Nevertheless we praise God for the spiritual progress we are seeing in the lives of people.

Pastors: Jim Roden & Rick Simpson
