Trauma as Seen from a Survivor's Perspective

A Breakout Session for the Reclaiming Hope Conference

I am a survivor. My father was killed in the line of duty when I was two years old. That traumatic event has shaped every day of my life to date. I will share what I have done over the years to process and heal from that trauma. I will discuss the difficulties and the re-traumatization I feel every time my father's killer is up for parole. I will also touch on the pain I have felt in the current anti-police climate.

Brenna Durkin has lived in Tucson since 1998. She graduated from Ironwood Ridge High school, and went on to attend the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor.
