My discussion will include a brief personal trauma history and expand into how it led to a career in child welfare. I will discuss the direct and indirect trauma that children and families in the child welfare system face. I will highlight some of the pros and cons that I have seen from families working or volunteering in the juvenile dependency system
Brenna Durkin has lived in Tucson since 1998. She graduated from Ironwood Ridge High school, and went on to attend the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor. Brenna has been a licensed attorney since 2010 and practiced in Prescott, Phoenix and Tucson. Her main practice focus is child welfare-she has represented the Department of Child Safety, parents and children during her career. Brenna is a survivor, her father was a policeman killed in the line of duty in Youngstown, OH.
