Arizona ballots are being mailed out next Wednesday, October 12th. A high percent of us have requested early ballots and the number is growing. It is heartbreaking that many Christians who have the chance to elect Godly men and women never mail in their ballots or fail to show up at the polls.
For citizens to maintain our constitutional republic, it is imperative that all of us vote. Statistics show that in America, only around 60% of eligible voters in presidential elections actually vote and in midterms, it drops to 40%.
This means that when millions of ballots are mailed out to people who haven’t got a clue about the candidates and even less about ballot propositions, the outcome will be disastrous. When citizens make an informed vote, we will elect the people who truly represent our values in government.
Here in Arizona, ballot propositions can shape our government even greater. That’s because in Arizona, when a ballot proposition passes, our legislature cannot change it in any way. Special interests spend millions to get measures in the ballot for self-serving gain. I have always called our citizen initiative process, “mob rule”.
4Tucson does not endorse candidates or recommend ballot measures. I recommend you investigate candidates and ballot measures yourself and vote.
There are two like minded organizations that I always check out to see where they stand. For candidates that support life, marriage and family and religious freedom, the Center for Arizona Policy Action has a score card and a list of endorsements. The Goldwater Institute has done a great job investigating some of the ballot measures.
For years, 4Tucson has had a strong relationship with the Patriot Academy. We facilitate many of their Biblical Citizenship classes. They stand by the L.I.F.T Principles:
“The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics or the Lord will curse them…Christians have been exceedingly guilty in this matter. But the time has come when they must act differently…Christians seem to act as if they thought God did not see what they do in politics. But I tell you He does see it and He will bless or curse the nation according to the course they Christians take in politics”.
