10Days of Prayer
|August 10, 2021|
I’m starting out with an invitation. Tracelyn Sutton is 4Tucson’s Economic Opportunity & Development Taskforce Director. There are several areas she plans to focus on: Prioritize Education, Debt Transformation, Workforce Development, & Entrepreneurship. An email she sent to me states: “The first of these that I would like to invite domain members to be a part of is Prioritizing Education. This taskforce will develop strategies to shift focus to the importance of a thorough and balanced education available to all students city wide by involving parents, coaches, groups, libraries, churches, etc.” As a member of the Prayer Domain, you could have an impact. Please keep in mind that if we are desiring to transform our city through biblical principles, it must involve prayer. If you are interested in this or would like further information, please contact Tracelyn at [email protected].
We are now one month away from 10 Days of Prayer (Sept 6-16). I hope I’ve been able to convey the importance of the High Holy Days found in scripture with relationship to this event. I know I promised Yom Kippur today but that will be next week. There will still be one more Holy Day, Sukkot, but I’ll address that in a few weeks.
You may have noticed towards the bottom of the newsletter last week a link to 4Tucson’s 10 Day landing page. On the landing page are listed several activities to participate in if you so choose. This list is incomplete as we are still awaiting some information before publicizing. The landing page will be updated next week, so, please keep checking for any updates. At this time, I’d like to share some explanations:
1. I am honored and blessed to be able to share the Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur services with you. You are more than welcome to attend in person or watch online. The link to watching them is on the landing page. I thought these might be of interest to you as I’ve written much about them.
2. We are pleased to offer 3 prayer walks. Two are not listed as we are awaiting more information. However, there will be a prayer walk at City Hall on Sunday, Sept 12, with To-Go Christian Church; and a prayer walk near downtown & 4th Ave on Monday, Sept 13, with Awoke Ministries. Time & starting locations are pending.
3. There are several pending prayer meetings: a men’s group on Thursday, Sept 9; children & families’ group on Friday, Sept 10; a women’s group on Friday, Sept 10; a young adult group on Saturday, Sept 11; and a bi-lingual group on Tuesday, Sept 14.
4. Desert Streams Fellowship will open at 8 am for all day prayer on Wednesday, Sept 15.
Now, some of these activities might look interesting to you. Perhaps there’s a desire for your church, prayer group, or even Sunday school class to host a prayer walk in your neighborhood or you would like to host a prayer meeting. Please let me know, especially if others are invited to join you. It is ok if there is a doubling or tripling up on days. Tucson is a spread out city. The whole idea is to engage people in prayer. With the giving of a variety of styles, times, dates and locations, perhaps more people will want to participate.
Be on the lookout for a plethora of tools that perhaps might help some to engage with prayer, repentance and worship. It is my prayerful hope that anything you’ve read over the last few weeks, anything that you have found helpful or interesting, might be shared with your families or prayer groups. If you think any of the resources could be of benefit to others, please share. The resources will be available with each newsletter through 10 Days and can also be found on the website:
Finally, on a personal note, thank you for all the positive feedback I received regarding last week’s newsletter about the “pink elephant”. Your comments were most encouraging.
Blessings & Shalom
