January 18, 2022 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Answering the Call to Pray

Just recently I read the following: When we live intentionally, we are often able to better discover and glean value in each interaction. Living life for a reason greater than ourselves causes us to passionately and faithfully commit to the opportunity in front of us. Jesus gives us the greatest example of living a purposeful life.

January 11, 2022 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Music and Movement Day

As I wrote last week, I recently returned from a solo road trip to Texas. While the drive was long, it proved to be a delightful time with the Lord. But it is really what I experienced on the way home that I want to share with you. For my birthday, my daughter gave me the Laments CD by City Psalms. I found myself listening to it basically from Kerrville Texas to Texas Canyon Arizona (about 700 miles).

January 4, 2022 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Unspeakable Joy!

Greetings Pray-ers and Happy New Year!
Over the holidays, I had the opportunity of taking a road trip to SE Texas. I chose this option not wanting to deal with the stresses of flying. It was wonderful to reconnect with family and friends. But, it was also sobering. Those I saw love the Lord, worship and read God’s Word faithfully. Yet, many had gone through significant events this past year – physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. They seemed worn down by life. In my humanness and compassion, I wanted to wish away the weariness and fatigue they were feeling. Joy to the World was a constant song playing through my mind.

December 7, 2021 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Awakening the Sleeping Giant

Today is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This was the catalyst that propelled America to become a significant force in the winning of World War 2 . . . . defeat of the German Nazi war machine and Japanese imperialism. (What is interesting is that we now have a relatively healthy relationship with both Germany and Japan.) In January of 1942, Ogata Taketora, a Japanese newspaper editor, stated, “A military man can scarcely pride himself on having ‘smitten a sleeping enemy’; it is more a matter of shame, simply, for the one smitten. I would rather you made your appraisal after seeing what the enemy does, since it is certain that, angered and outraged, he will soon launch a determined counterattack.”

November 30, 2021 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Hanukkah

John 10:22-23: "Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple area walking in Solomon’s Colonnade." Hanukkah is also known as the Feast of Dedication. The word Hanukkah comes from the Hebrew word “chanak” which means, in part, to dedicate.

November 23, 2021 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Thanksgiving Blessings

as you and I enter this Thanksgiving, let us reflect for a moment that 400 years ago the first settlers considered it important to give thanks. Afterall, they had so much for which to be thankful. Can you imagine being on a wooden ship, tossed to & fro, for 2 months, and then the elation of finally seeing land? We, too, have much to be grateful for: the beauty of a sunset, the smile on our child’s face (regardless their age), the safety of our homes, and the list is endless.

November 9, 2021 Prayer Domain Newsletter: Prayer for Protection

If you are like me, you may be thinking, “But, what I’m concerned about is not found in the Bible.” A particular issue may not be in scripture, but I am confident that ways to address said issue can be found in the scriptures. So, please stay alert; keep your plumb-line, your focus, on Jesus/Yeshua. If you do not receive answers immediately, keep persevering in your prayers, keep reading God’s word. You will receive the guidance needed.
