4Tucson hires David Drum as Director of Church Development
By David Drum | August 16, 2011
I officially start my position as Director of Church Development on August 1. During June and July, I haven’t yet initiated a single conversation – I’ve just responded to open doors that God has brought my direction. I’m just following God around town, taking notes, and prayerfully waiting until I can devote my full attention to this position. So here are some highlights:
- Ten churches already have indicated they’re ready to join as sponsoring churches. Two already sent in checks.
- Strategic alliances are already being developed with Great Adventure (a citywide men’s ministry), the Crisis Pregnancy Center, the Willow Creek Leadership Summit, Higher Ground (a very successful after school ministry), and Eleven11 (a 24 hour prayer movement on the campuses of public high schools around the state).
- A couple dozen people have joined the 144,000, with many more just waiting upon my invitation.
- Began developing a database of churches who want to offer up their successful ministries in coming alongside other churches.
- Began visioning a database of individuals within churches who would offer their services to those around the city in need (i.e. mechanics, lawyers, accountants, etc.)
- Several conversations with pastors from some of the larger cornerstone churches in town, all of whom want to invest in a citywide vision.
- Doors are open to establish relationships across the whole racial spectrum of Tucson, learning what God is doing in every corner of our city and seeing how much more Jesus gets lifted up as we intentionally partner together.
- Began visioning a central hub where churches/pastors could give and receive information about social ministry/benevolence requests from individuals in need.
Every single one of those successes is the result of countless prayer warriors who’ve gone before us, breaking up the hard ground and contending for the Kingdom right here in our city. Praise the Lord!
